Here's Another Certification Opportunity:

Do you know what the last handful of people who have moved to Goree or who are wanting to move to Goree have in common? Retirement and Fishing!

The Legislature passed HB 1982, which creates a certified retirement community program, to be administered by TDA. The GO TEXAN Certified Retirement Community Program (CRC) is a new program from the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to help Texas communities encourage retirees and potential retirees to make their homes in Texas communities. The CRC program is established to:
  • promote Texas as a retirement destination to retirees and potential retirees both in and outside Texas;

  • assist Texas communities in their efforts to market themselves as desirable retirement locations

  • encourage tourism to Texas

History of Goree

Knox Co. Historical Commission is requesting Goree citizens to contribute items for the area in the historical museum designated for our town in Benjamin. Questions? Contact Mr. and Mrs. Presnall. And thank them for representing our town.

In 2000 only 57% of Goree residents responded to the census. The 2010 website is where one can find out 'why' the census is so very important. One benefit is ranking for grants.
