Funeral services for Guadalupe E. Andrade, of Plano,

were held at 9 AM, Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the

Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Bill

Bunting officiating. Burial followed at the Hillcrest Cemetery

in Temple.

The family received friends for visitation on Tuesday

evening from 6-8 PM at the dossman Funeral Home in

Belton.

Mrs. Andrade died July 23, 2011 in a San Antonio hospital.

Mrs. Andrade was born in San Juan, Texas the daughter

of Sabino and Claudia (Ramos) Espinoza. She married

Jose Morales Andrade in Edinburg, Texas. She was a

long time resident of Goree, Texas. She was a member of

the Goree Church of Christ, before moving to Plano in

1997. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Andrade was preceded in death by her husband

November 4, 1984 and a son, Eloie Andrade, in 1955.

Survivors include two sons, Jessie Andrade, Sr. and

wife Martha of Munday and Jose Andrade, Jr. and wife

Josie of Plano. She is also survived by eight daughters,

Yolanda Andrade of Plano, Dora Andrade of Austin, Olga

Casey and husband Mike of Corpus Christi, Billie

Andrade of Dallas, Herrlinda Thrash and husband Philip

of Lubbock, Margie Parker and husband Robert of Bryant,

Arkansas, Rachel King and husband Pat of Marble Falls

and Sue Banfield and husband Eric of Belton. Brother

Faustino Espinoza of Linares, Mexico and Vidal Espinoza

of Monterrey, Mexico; 16 grandchildren, Elizabeth Bell,

Jessie Andrade, Jr., Marcus Steven Andrade, Priscilla

Andrade, Yomaida English, Douglas Andrade, Lloyd

Andrade, Celeste Cole, Monica Andrade, Bradley Casey,

Bryan Casey, Ashley Casey, Taylor Banfield, Macey

Charles Parks Heard was born December 11, 1916, in Goree, TX, to Dr. E. F. Heard and Sydney Parks Heard. He died July 21, 2011, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He managed NAPA Auto Parts stores in Odessa and Midland for over 20 years. Charlie was a proud Goree Wildcat his entire life. He was in the Army Medical Corp and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Charlie lost his sight in 1973, and continued to be fully active in his church and community service. He was a member of Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ, and he was an active member of the Odessa Downtown Lion's Club where he held every office including District Governor. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

He received the Heritage of Odessa Award in Community service.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maldene Branch Heard, and a daughter Jo Heard.

He is survived by a daughter and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends only at Frank W Wilson Funeral Directors, Sunday July 24, 2011 from 2 until 3 p.m.

Graveside services will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene, TX, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011.

SEYMOUR — Myra Jenette “Jennie” Reed, age 73, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at her residence in Seymour. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, with Dr. David Warren, pastor, and Wayne Sharp officiating. Interment will be in the Brushy Cemetery near Goree, Tx., under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Reed was born July 23, 1937 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Luther and Bear Gray Williams. She married Lloyd Reed on June 27, 1953 in Goree, Texas.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Reed of Seymour, Texas; by three daughters, Carla Engels and husband, John of Greeley, Colorado, Kim Deisher and husband, David of Keller, Texas, and Robin Shane of Burleson, Texas; by 8 grandchildren, Stephen Sims, Robby Blush, Jamie Oliva, Andrew Sims, Brittany Deisher, Wesley Deisher, Tyler Shane and Dylan Shane; and by 7 Great-grandchildren, Chandler, Wyatt and Landry Sims, Addison and Brianna Blush, and Vaughn and Marcus Oliva.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Doris Putman, and a daughter, Donna Kay Sims.

A visitation will be held at 6 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First Baptist Church in Seymour.

Eva Warren, 96 a resident of Pine Tree Assisted Living in Paris, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011.

Funeral services will be 10:00A.M. Sat., April 30, 2011 in the Church of Christ of Honey Grove, Texas. Mr. Preston Boles and Mr. Roger Dawdy will officiate. Pallbearers serving will be family members. Burial will follow at Goree Cemetery in Goree, Texas. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10A.M. Sat. April 30, 2011, at the church prior to services.

Eva E. Warren was born Oct. 19, 1914 in Goree, Texas to parents, Edward A. Jones and Claudia Elizabeth Edwards Jones. She attended Hefner and Goree schools. After graduation in 1932, she continues her education at North Texas State University. She started teaching at Hefner Rural School. For the next seven years, she taught in the winters and attended North Texas in the summers. She also taught in various positions in the Goree public school before her retirement in 1978.

She was a longtime faithful member of the Church of Christ, worshiping in Goree, Selfs, Honey Grove, and Paris. Her family brought much joy to her. She loved cooking, sewing, quilting, and playing games, especially Chinese Checkers with the great grandchildren. She always had a wonderful smile that cheered those around her.

She married Elkin B. Warren Sept. 17, 1939 in Frederick, OK. and after 59 years of marriage before his death Feb. 2, 1998. Along with her loving husband she was preceded in death by her parents, son in law, Sammy Dobbs, sister, Lila Faye Mobley and two brothers, Clarence and Paul Jones.

They are survived by two daughters, Claudia and Roger Dawdy of Holly Lake, TX; and Fran Dobbs of Honey Grove, TX; Three granddaughters, Kristy and Eric Howell of Argyle, TX; April and Preston Boles of Honey Grove, TX; and Stacy and Randy Barnes of North Richland Hills, TX. Nine Great Grandchildren, JonAaron, Kyleb, Kason, and Julia Howell, Luke and Kendall Boles, Hudson, Easton, and Greyson Barnes.

Patsy Stout Cooper passed from this life to eternity in heaven on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Ulrey, officiating. Burial will be in the Cache Creek Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at the funeral home. Patsy was born in the family home southwest of Seymour on January 16, 1929 to Lowe L and Mary Alice Robertson Stout. She attended a one room school, Miller Creek School for two years and transferred to a two teacher school, Mary’s Creek school for four years. She graduated from Seymour High School. Patsy graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics in Sonora, Megargel, Olney and Goree. She returned to college and received her Master’s in Library Science in 1971 from East Texas State University. She became librarian at Seymour High School and later Seymour Elementary, as well. She retired after 35 years of teaching; then returned to Goree Schools as a part-time librarian. Mrs. Cooper sponsored FHA trips, class activities and senior trips. Juniors and Seniors benefitted from her research expertise while writing term papers. She loved those high school students. Cooper, Mama Pat, or Aunt Patsy had a life long love for her family and community. She was an active member of the Baylor County Historical Commission, serving as president. She helped collect information and write “Salt Port to Sirloin, Volumes I and II” and “Latchstrings”. She renewed interest in homecoming for Seymour Ex-Students beginning in 1976. She served on the nominations committee for the Seymour Old Settlers Reunion. She served and encouraged others to do the same. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was a past member of the Classroom Teachers Association and a lifetime member of TSTA/NEA. She served as an officer in both. Patsy received the Seymour Chamber of Commerce 1986 Friend of Seymour and 1989 Citizen of the Year. She was an honorary Chapter Farmer for Seymour FFA. Patsy Stout married Raymond Cooper of Sonora. They divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowe and Mary Alice Stout; an infant brother, William Frank; an infant daughter, Phyllis Jo; and an older brother, Jack Stout. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Ruth and husband, Laron Peters of Gothenburg, NE; a granddaughter, Lizette Alice and husband, Mike Dahlgren of Lincoln, NE; a grandson, Levi Zach Peters of Lincoln, NE. Other survivors include three sisters, Jo Alice Stout of Munday, Betty Lynn Stout Styles of Seymour, and Trixie Stout Holt of Gruver, Texas; a brother, Jimmy Stout and wife, Jo Rozelle of Seymour; and a sister-in-law, Anne Stout of Seymour. KNOX CITY — Patsy Ruth Lankford, 78, passed away April 2, 2011, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Knox City Cemetery under the directon of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.
Patsy was born July 13, 1932, in Munday, Texas, to Ezra Pryor and Effie Yeager. She married Jackie Wayne Lankford December 24, 1952. She was retired from the Texas Department of Human Resources in Knox City where she worked as a secretary. She was a longtime resident of Knox City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and nephew Terry Hollar. Patsy is survived by a daughter, Janet Kay Herzog of Wichita Falls; two sons, Michael Wayne Lankford of Round Mountain, and David Lynn Lankford of Knox City; one sister, Marjorie Hollar of Burleson; five grandchildren, Jill King of Wichita Falls, Emily Herzog of Wichita Falls, Douglas Pierce of Norfolk, Va., Audrey Lankford of San Angelo, Sondra Lankford of Lubbock; and one great-grandson, Chaz King of Wichita Falls. Memorials can be given to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the Wichita Falls Humane Society.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Goree Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

Rolly was born January 4, 1962, in Knox City, Texas. He graduated from Goree High School and was a cook.

Survivors: two brothers, Manuel D. Ramos of Yucca Valley, California, and Art Ramos of Abilene, Texas; three sisters, Connie Reyes of Watauga, Texas, Molly Shires of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Gloria Ramos of Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends was Monday at the funeral home at 6 p.m.

Wilma Butler, 87, went to be with her Lord on September 20, 2010. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Lamar Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Roberson and Reverend Shane Kendrix officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

Wilma lived the first 33 years of her life in Knox County, where she graduated from Goree High School in 1940. She married Joe C. Butler in Abilene, Texas, in 1941. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1956 and became a member of Lamar Baptist Church. She worked with her husband who was a State Farm Insurance agent. She enjoyed playing cards and was a past captain of the Patrol Unit of the Daughters of the Nile Shelomi Temple #43. She was in the Social Order of the Beausants #105 and Wichita General Hospital Auxiliary.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband on May 12, 1980; a son, Bobby Butler on July 24, 1972; and a sister, Eva Ray Estes on November 24, 1985; and her parents, Jodie and Lola Perdue.

Survivors include a son, Dick Butler of Goree, Texas; a daughter, Barbara Stouder and husband Bill of Wichita Falls; one granddaughter, Traci Blair of Munday, Texas; a grandson, Jason Stouder and wife Theresa of Wichita Falls; four great-grandchildren, Tony Blair and wife Annie of Munday, Gavin, Cohen and Zooey Stouder of Wichita Falls. She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Stetson and Colton Blair, all of Munday; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

In Loving Memory...A. Overton Faubus, who was the Goree Church of Christ preacher for a long time.

Dr. A. Overton Faubus, 96, stepped out of this life and into a new one with the Lord, Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at his home in Abilene, with his daughter and son by his side. He was the patriarch of Abilene Christian University's internationally accredited College of Business Administration, leaving behind three generations of former students and colleagues at ACU who loved and respected him.

He was born July 3, 1914, in Fort Worth, Texas, to David Alfred and Ida Anna Loeser Faubus, but grew up in Waco. Faubus earned a bachelor's degree in accounting (1939) and a M.B.A. (1955) from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arkansas (1969). He joined the ACU business faculty in 1952 as an assistant professor of business administration, and was named chair of the business department in 1969. He retired in 1985 as professor emeritus of accounting, but continued to teach, consult and mentor. At the time of his retirement, he was asked why he came to ACU, and why he stayed. "Because of its Christian environment and the opportunity to touch and influence so many young lives, as well as have more time to devote to church and my family," he wrote. "That never changed."

ACU students and faculty selected Dr. Faubus as Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 1972, and he was honored by his ex-students on Overton Faubus Day in 1980 with the establishment of the Overton Faubus Endowed Professorship in business. He received the Faculty and Staff Award in 1992 from the ACU Alumni Association for his dedication to educating students in COBA, and he was honored in 2005 at a Centennial luncheon for his dedicated service to the university and community. In 2009, ACU's Faubus Fountain Lake was named in his honor.He served on numerous committees at ACU, including the Academic Council, Graduate Council, Student Activities Committee, Judicial Committee, Wage Study Committee, Retirement Committee, Dean's Selection Committee, and the Centennial Photography Archivists Team.

He started the ACU Credit Union and served as secretary-treasurer its first four years. Dr. Faubus also was an active participant in the university's Christian Education Sundays program.In 1997, Dr. Faubus was named Outstanding Alumnus in Accounting by the Texas A&M School of Business and in 2006, he was selected Alumnus Accountant of the Year by the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Faubus became a CPA in 1959, and served as president of the Abilene Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs, as well as a committee member of that organization and the Industrial Development Board of Texas. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, American Management Association and American Banking Association, and served on committees for the U.S. Small Business Administration and Federal Reserve. He was a founding partner in 1978 of the Abilene accounting firm of McCurdy, Faubus and Wright. He was active in Abilene's Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, and served six years on the Board of Trustees for Christian Homes of Abilene.

Dr. Faubus loved the church, and for most of his adult life, he served as minister, associate minister or elder of each congregation he attended. He was most recently an elder at Abilene's Hillcrest Church of Christ, a congregation he first served as a founding elder and assistant minister in 1959. He and Hillcrest were nearly inseparable ministry partners for more than half a century.

He married Annie Sybil Cochran on Oct. 29, 1939, and their nearly 51-year marriage produced two children before Sybil died Aug. 3, 1990. Dr. Faubus married Delfa Dee Yancy on Sept. 29, 1991, and she died Jan. 1, 2010. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years; his second wife of 19 years; and a grandson, Allen Overton Griggs. Among survivors are a daughter, Ann (Faubus) and her husband, Dr. Jack Griggs, of Abilene; a son, Don Faubus, D.V.M., and his wife, Pam, of Tyler; and two step-daughters, Billye and her husband, Wyman Wilkerson, of Abilene, and Peggye and her husband, Dr. Dave Pullias, of Kerrville; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Jud of Waco. He has seven grandchildren: Tim Martin, M.D., and his wife, Angela (Griggs), of Abilene; Brent Pennington and his wife, Julie (Griggs), of Chiang Rai, Thailand; Dr. Mike Stegemoller and his wife, Ashlie (Griggs) of Waco; Jackson Overton Griggs, M.D., and his wife, Erin, of Waco; Chad Faubus and his wife, Mandy, of Bentonville, Ark.; Todd Faubus and his wife, Erin, of Bentonville, Ark.; and Seth Pace of Abilene and Kelly Pace Fossi of Alpine. Dr. Faubus also has 26 great-grandchildren. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Hillcrest Church of Christ.The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Faubus' physician, William F. Shudde, M.D., and the selfless love and support of his dedicated caregiver, Sherri Thetford of Visiting Angels.A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Church of Christ, under the direction of Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors. A time of visitation with the family is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home (733 Butternut in Abilene). Jerry Brooks Massey, age 73, of Houston, Texas passed away Thursday, July 7th in Houston, Texas. Jerry was born in Goree, Texas on December 15, 2010, the daughter of Lee Roy Brooks and Lucy Mathews Brooks. Jerry graduated from Goree High School in 1955. She married Jimmy Roy Massey of Munday, Texas on September 23, 1955.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 16th at 10 AM at Edgemere Church of Christ.
Jerry was a homemaker until her youngest child started school. Jerry was employed by Best Products and the State of Texas in the Department of Human Services.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Lisa Lou and son Jimmy Roy, Jr.
Jerry is survived by her husband Jimmy Roy Massey, her daughter Phyllis Massey and son Scott Massey in Houston, Texas.

This is Phyllis Massey, Jerry's daughter.

My mom passed away today in Houston. She was hospitalized last Thursday with a blood clot in her lung and fluid in and around her lungs. She had a stoke yesterday. She had been fighting liver cancer for over a year.

We will probably have a memorial in Wichita Falls some time next week.

Douglas Allen Moore of Munday, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 1, 2010, in Tyler, Texas.

He was born December 18, 1932, in Goree, Texas.

He served in the US Navy for 4 years.

He attended Abilene Christian College and Texas Tech.

He was employed with TI, F & M Systems, and Nelson International before retiring and moving to Munday to care for his parents.

He was the owner and operator of Memories of Munday Antique Store before retiring in 2008.

He was a member of the Munday Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by parents Johnny & Jo Emma Moore, brother David Moore and sister Linda Moore Burris. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bettye Blacklock Moore of Tyler, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Wendel and Glenda Moore, sister-in-law Sandra West of Lubbock, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Melinda and Erik Switzer of Arp, Texas; son Michael Moore of Munday, Texas; daughter-in-law Kathie Cummons, son and daughter-in-law Milton and Connie Moore of Arp, Texas; and daughter Melissa Eades of Knox City, Texas; special daughter Alexis Beyer, Arlington, Texas.

Doris (Moore, Routon) Chamberlain passed away during the night last night. Doris was Leander and Pearl Moore's first grandchild and, I think, should be 91 this year.

Wayne Arlin Harris Sr. (1924 - 2010)

Wayne Arlin Harris Sr., 85, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at a Richland Hills care facility. Service: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel.

Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society , www.cancer.org.

Mr. Harris was born Nov. 24, 1924, to Walter Albert and Rose Harris in Goree. He was a man whose many interests included fishing and his activities in the Hurst Amateur Radio Club. He was retired after 34 years of service with General Motors. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma "Lois" Harris, and his daughter, Kay Johnson Castro.Survivors: His son, Wayne Arlin Harris Jr. of Hurst; daughter, Evelyn McCurry of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sheri Ja'Nae Geldard and husband, Kevin, Carmen Johnson, Marcella Moy and John Marvin Harry; great-granddaughter, Victoria Brooke Geldard; and several nieces and nephews.

Lois Faye Myers, 57, a rural mail carrier, of Joshua, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Church at Burleson. Interment: Burleson Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.

Lois was born June 4, 1952, in Haskell to Arthur and Ollie Lee Hargrove. She was a loving wife, mother and Nan. Lois loved her family and grandchildren and their events. She also loved being outside, drinking coffee on the front porch, sewing and cooking. Her home was always open to all.

Lois was preceded by her parents; son, David Eric Myers, in 2000; and four brothers.

Survivors: Husband, Dudley Myers of Joshua; daughters, Kristy Maniscalco and husband, David, of Simonton, Becky Akin and husband, Gabe, of Burleson, Misti Varnell and husband, Chad, of Burleson, Caren Kline and husband, Larry, of Mansfield; brother, Eddie Hargrove and wife, Patty, of Bedford; grandchildren, Anna, Jonathan, Mariah, Kadyn, Corbin, Justin, Billy, Preston, Seth, Ethan, Claire; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

DORSE DEAN BLANKENSHIP

Dorse Dean Blankenship, age 78, of Olney, Texas, died Friday, December 11, 2009, in Olney. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Carpenter, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Goree Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

Mr. Blankenship was born April 18, 1931 in Sunset, Texas to the late Porter and Ina (McGregor) Blankenship. He graduated from Goree High School in 1949. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was assigned to the 351st infantry unit in Triest, Italy. He and Mary Joyce Jones were married November 8, 1957 in Seymour, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2001. Dorse was a farmer in Baylor and Knox counties for 30 years. He moved to Olney from Seymour, Texas in 1979 and worked for Olney ISD in the maintenance department for 13 years. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Olney Masonic Lodge No. 790 A.F. and A.M. He served as a worthy patron of the Eastern Star and was a past commander of the V.F.W. Post 3906.

Dorse was preceded in death by one daughter, Joy Elaine Moore, on December 26, 2005. Survivors include one daughter, Tina White and husband Brian of Fort Worth, Texas; son-in-law, Ben Moore of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Bobby Blankenship of Goree, Texas; one sister, Bertha Mae Wright and husband, Wesley, of Midland, Texas; and one granddaughter, Brandi Moore Allen, and husband Forrest of Seattle, Washington.
