James Byron Steward, Jr., 47, of Ranger, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Ranger. Memorial services will be held at a later date. James was born June 23, 1965 in Haskell, TX to James Byron Steward, Sr. and Berniece Hudson. Mr. Steward received a Master's Degree and had worked in construction. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Jaryn Steward of Lubbock; two sisters, Pat Steward of Ranger and Tonya Cypert and her husband Buddy of Haskell; a nephew, Cody Cypert of Lubbock; two nieces, Jacy West of Haskell and Kristin Bishop of Abilene.

IOWA PARK — James “Jimmy” Earnest Alsup, age 78, longtime resident of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Iowa Park, with Rev. Glen Pearce, Pastor, and Dr. David Warren, officiating. Committal services will be held following the service in Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Jimmy was born May 15, 1934, in Olney, Texas, to Aaron Earnest Alsup and wife, Eula Ben Watson Alsup. He married Shirley Jenelle Collins on August 3, 1952, in Megargel, Texas. He was a coach in Goree, Texas, Sudan, Texas, and came to Iowa Park in 1965 as Junior High School coach. He coached the students in Junior High School who went on to State in 1968 and 1970. He was assistant principal at Iowa Park High School and later went to the Junior High School as principal. He retired November 30, 1990, as principal at the Junior High School. Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ricky Alsup.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Iowa Park; son, Randy and wife, Denise, of Iowa Park; daughter, Georgia Alsup of Iowa Park; a brother, Roy Dehn Alsup and wife, Janice, of Archer City, Texas; four grandchildren, Hayley Ann Warren and husband, David, of Seymour, Texas, Todd Kenneth Alsup of Dallas, Texas, Tiffany Lee McCalip and husband, Weston, of Iowa Park; Collin Alsup of Burkburnett, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Caden Jo Warren, Luke Todd Warren and Reese Paige Warren,all of Seymour, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, November 20, 2012, at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel.

Lila Ann (Bunny) Hutchens, 64, passed away September 28th, 2012 in Jackson, Mississippi.
"Bunny" was born December 30th, 1947 in Haskell, Texas to Clifford and Dorothy Rhoads. She and Alan Hutchens were married June 24th, 1966 in Munday, Texas.
Known lovingly as "Granbunny", she was a very caring mother, grandmother, daughter, and wife. She loved spending time with her grandchildren especially at Possum Kingdom Lake. Even though she went through a great deal of suffering with her illness, she was always concerned about the welfare of others. She put her heart and soul into being a compassionate and wonderful mother and grandmother. She was the most happy when she was surrounded by her grandchildren.
"Bunny" is survived by 2 sons: Lowell and wife Karyn Hutchens of Chandler, Oklahoma and Scott and Elisabeth Hutchens of Cleveland, Mississippi. 4 grandsons; Hunter, Hayden, Henry, and Zachary. And 2 granddaughters; Scottie and Zoey.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012 from 6-7 P.M. at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday, Texas. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 at 10 A.M. at the Church of Christ in Munday. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

Jerrell Loyd "Jerry" Bradley (1935 - 2012) 77, went home to be with his heavenly Father and to be reunited with his son, other family members and friends, on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012. Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Hawkins Cemetery at 5501 N. Hwy. 287 Access, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701. Jerry was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Seymore, and graduated from Goree High School. After a year of college, he joined the Navy serving a four-year tour. In 1960 he married Carolyn Connally and they moved to the Metroplex. Jerry worked at the Arlington Plant of General Motors for 34 years before retiring and moving to their home on Lake Palestine in Chandler. Jerry served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Arlington for many years and director of the Single Adults Department much of that time. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Loyd Bradley; and his parents, Loyd A. and Dixie Bradley. Survivors: Wife, Carolyn; brother, Clifford D. Bradley of Rockwell; daughter, Heather Moore of Arlington; three granddaughters; and one grandson.Published in Star-Telegram on October 3, 2012

— Mary Elizabeth Martin, 93, died Friday, July 20, 2012, in Seymour.
Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Seymour Church of Christ with Lee
Skelton, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial
will be in Henson Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral
Home.
Mrs.
Martin was a homemaker.
Survivors
include four sons, John Mark Martin of Lubbock, Stephen Paul (Chip) Martin of
Anson, Phillip Andrew Martin of Sugarland and David Forrest Martin of
Mansfield; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

HASKELL — Virginia Dare Land most recently of Haskell, but longtime resident of Goree, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Haskell. She was 94. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at Goree Cemetery in Goree with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Virginia Lain was born in Parker County, Texas on January 18, 1918 to parents, William and Mary (Murphy) Lain. She married John Arnold Land on December 19, 1936 who preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Goree and was a clerk at Carl Dry Goods for over 30 years. Mrs. Land was a member of First Baptist Church in Haskell.
Also preceding her in death is her second husband, Howard Reding, whom she married October 25, 1991. Additionally, are her parents, William and Mary Lain; a sister, Nina Morton; 5 brothers, Fred Lain, Homer Lain, Leroy Lain, and 2 that passed at infancy.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hicks of Seymour; 3 sons, Michael Land of Wichita Falls, Don Land of Comfort, and Garry Land of Clinton, Iowa; 1 brother, C.W. Lain of Seymour; 10 grandchildren, Andrea Land, Sarah Land, Clint Hicks, Lisa Lane, Sherrie Hicks, Jamie Glaze, Jason Land, Ashlee Land, Emily Steinhendt, Erin George; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his mother Avis Struck Durr, one sister Michelle & husband Cary Borden, and nieces and nephews, Travis Durr, Tabitha Borden, Kaitlynd Borden, Makynzi Watson and one aunt Andrea Struck Piland. He is preceded in death by his father William Durr and grandparents Earl and Bea Struck.
